Du Yun Zhou

Violin | Music Theory Teacher

Du Yun Zhou (杜云舟) graduated with full scholarship and outstanding academic results from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore. He studied under the renowned American violinist and pedagogue Professor Jun Zuo. During his studies, he was an active member of the conservatory orchestra and participated in multiple collaborative projects with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO), performing at Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay.


As a student representative of China’s pioneering “Simple and Efficient Learning Method”, Du was invited to participate in music festivals and academic conferences across China and internationally, continually expanding his artistic perspective. Throughout these experiences, he had the opportunity to collaborate and study with distinguished violinists, including Siqing Lü and Itzhak Perlman.


He previously served as Concertmaster of the Yantai International Violin Festival Orchestra, performing in collaboration with the Central Conservatory of Music (Beijing). His musicianship and professional artistry received high praise from renowned Chinese violinist Professor Shen Gao and Professor Rong He of the Central Conservatory of Music.


Du was also invited to perform on China Central Television (CCTV) for a New Year special program, where he recorded the virtuosic violin showpiece La ronde des lutins.


In 2022, he performed as a violinist in a chamber ensemble at the Asian Civilisations Museum in Singapore, contributing to both concert performances and outreach programs.


While deeply rooted in the classical tradition, Du continues to explore historically informed and contemporary styles. He has collaborated with Singapore’s acclaimed Red Dot Baroque Orchestra, performing the celebrated violin sonata cycle The Rosary Sonatas.


As an educator, Yunzhou Du brings a distinctive perspective shaped by his journey from amateur beginnings to professional training. Drawing on diverse teaching experiences from both China and Singapore, his pedagogy emphasizes clear musical understanding, efficient practice strategies, and a supportive learning environment. He is committed to helping students build strong technical foundations while nurturing confidence, musicality, and a lasting passion for violin playing. Under his instruction, students have achieved a 100% pass rate in ABRSM examinations, with multiple students receiving distinction-level results, ensuring a well-rounded, engaging, and rewarding learning experience.
