Elise Cheong
Piano Teacher
Elise Cheong (张迎宁) is a passionate and versatile piano teacher with over two years of teaching experience. She graduated from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), Singapore. Since beginning her teaching journey right after secondary school, Elise has worked with students of various ages and backgrounds, tailoring her approach to meet each learner’s needs.
Her teaching philosophy centers on nurturing students’ love and understanding of music before diving deeper into technique and musical expression. She believes that building a strong emotional and intellectual connection to music is the foundation for lasting growth and joy in piano playing.
Beyond teaching, Elise is an experienced performer in solo piano, accompaniment, and chamber music. She has accompanied strings, woodwinds, and voice in her school performances, including an ABRSM Grade 5 cello exam. She has also performed regularly at NAFA library concerts and participated in duo piano collaborations. Her mentor, Ms Neo, greatly influenced her passion for piano collaboration and accompaniment.
Elise is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Malay, making her approachable to a wide range of students and families.
