Emily Wang (王晨帆) is an UK-graduated Piano Educator | Piano Performance & Music Education Researcher | MOE (Singapore)–Certified Teacher & Steinway Honorary Teacher.

1. Educational Background

Master’s in Composition, University of Manchester, UK

Bachelor’s in Music Education (Piano as Major Instrument), Tianjin Conservatory of Music.



2. Higher Education Teaching & Research Experience

Emily has served 10 years as a lecturer at the School of Music & Dance and the School of Early Childhood Education, both at Changsha Normal University. Her courses included Music Theory, Piano Performance, and Improvisational Accompaniment, with over 4,000 students taught cumulatively. She has also Participated in the compilation of textbooks, course syllabi, and talent-training programmes.


Research expertise includes children’s music education, piano pedagogy, and music education for children with special needs.

  • Published 10+ academic papers;

  • Principal investigator for 2 provincial-level research projects and 1 university key project;

  • Participated as a core member in 4 provincial/ministry-level projects;

  • Supervised 1 student research project successfully;

3. Teaching Achievements & Student Mentorship

Her students have won awards in numerous international and regional music competitions, resulting in her repeated recognition as an awarded Outstanding Instructor. These competitions include the Global International Musicians Association, China–Singapore International Music Competition, Asia International Art Competition, among others.

Her students have received Gold Awards, Special Grand Prizes, and other top honours. (See Appendix 2)

She was a Certified Examiner for China Musicians Association Social Art Level Examinations and a Judge at the National Music Major Entrance Examinations for Chinese Universities.

5. Founding of Educational Institution & Public Arts Practice

Emily founded SoMe Music School in 2022, dedicated to a systematic, stage-oriented approach to music education and promoting cross-cultural exchange through performance platforms.


Since its establishment, the school has:

  • Organised multiple student concerts and outdoor music camps

  • Co-organised performances for Singapore American School International Week

  • Co-organised the “ICBC Sound of Spring” 2025 New Year Concert, jointly hosted by ICBC Singapore & China, the China Cultural Centre, with honorary support from the Chinese Embassy in Singapore


She has also led students to perform alongside the China Philharmonic Orchestra and renowned cellist Qin Li-Wei. Emily Wang performed Butterfly Lovers, receiving public commendation from Ambassador Cao Zhongming of the Chinese Embassy in Singapore on official social media platforms.


Additionally, her music school has:

  • Co-organised the Pearl River–Kayserburg Singapore Piano Gallery Concert

  • Co-organised multiple competitions and received Best Organisation Awards, including:

    • 2025 Royaux London Music Festival (Singapore Division)

At the milestone of Singapore’s 60th anniversary and the 35th anniversary of China–Singapore diplomatic relations, initiated and curated the annual arts project Dream Stage 2025 Concert, reaching 10,000+ online viewers and attracting representatives from across Singaporean society.The event received coverage from 10+ major media outlets, including China Daily, Beijing News, Sohu, and Tencent News.



6. Social Impact & Public Welfare Practice

  • 2024–2025: Invited multiple times as pianist and accompanist for the Sian Chay Cultural Lecture Forum, attended by Singapore government ministers and cultural leaders

  • Invited performer at the launch of A Century of Philanthropy in Singapore

  • Organiser of the Sian Chay Mid-Autumn Charity Concert 2025, leading students to serve elderly communities

  • Invited speaker on arts and family education at leading international schools and parent communities

  • Founder and organiser of SoMe Parents' Club and public sharing sessions on the significance of music education in parenting and building healthier families., gradually building a sustainable Chinese music education community in Singapore
