Zhang Chi (张驰) is a violinist graduating from Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, begun his violin studies at the age of 6 in Xi'an, China. He later studied with Li Qihua, professor of Xi'an Conservatory of Music for 3 years, and He Xian, professor of violin at Shanghai Conservatory of Music for 2 years. In 2005, he joined Guangdong International Summer Music Festival, where he performed with renowned violinists including Chantal Juillet, Akiko Suwanai, Jia Hongguang (assistant concertmaster of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra), Yu Long (Artistic Director & Principal Conductor of China Philharmonic Orchestra).
In 2009, Zhang Chi entered Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music with full scholarship and studied under Professor Zuo Jun, the Head of Violin Studies. In reorganization of his talents, Zhang Chi has vast experience in performance, particularly performing in The Three Tenors in Singapore and National Hsinchu University of Education in Taiwan. In 2010, he clenched the best performance award in Yong Siew Toh Conservatory Concerto Competition. A year later in 2011, he joined the world-renowned International Houston Music Festival and performed with Frank Huang, the concertmaster of the Houston Symphony. In 2015, Zhang Chi is full-time instructor and concertmaster at KidsPhilarharmonic@sg. In 2020, he served as the teaching assistant in Zuo Jun Violin Studies at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music.
