From January 4 to 5, 2025, the “Happy New Year, New Chapter 2025 Concert” was grandly held at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre. The concert was presented by Singapore Kapok Media, co-organised by SoMe Music School, with title sponsorship from Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) and honorary support from the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre, providing an important platform for cultural exchange between China, Singapore, and the international music community.

Selected works featured performances by the China Philharmonic Orchestra String Quartet, alongside SoMe Music School Director Emily Wang and two of her students, sharing the stage in a meaningful artistic collaboration. Special guest artists included internationally renowned cellist Qin Liwei, Professor at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music.

At this concert, Emily Wang collaborated with the China Philharmonic Orchestra to present classic works, including “Butterfly Lovers” (梁祝). Her performance showcased solid technique and heartfelt expression, fully conveying the depth of the compositions and earning recognition and praise from the audience.

In addition, Emily Wang’s performance received on-site commendation from Chinese Ambassador to Singapore Cao Zhongming and was subsequently featured on the official WeChat public account of the Chinese Embassy in Singapore.

Notably, two of Emily Wang’s piano students were also invited to perform on stage with the China Philharmonic Orchestra String Quartet, becoming a major highlight of the New Year Concert.

One male student, who had studied piano with Emily Wang for only one year at the time of last year’s performance, received unanimous praise from all four professional musicians of the China Philharmonic Orchestra String Quartet for his solid technique and mature musical expression. Footage of his performance was also featured as a key highlight in the official coverage, showcasing his remarkable musical potential and strong stage presence.

Another female student, who had studied piano with Emily Wang for approximately six months to one year, had recently won a competition award and successfully passed the ABRSM Grade 3 examination. Performing alongside a professional ensemble, she appeared calm, confident, and composed on stage, demonstrating a dignified and steady stage presence as well as strong musical sensitivity, earning recognition from both the audience and professionals alike.

This New Year Concert not only highlighted Emily Wang’s professional excellence in piano performance and chamber music collaboration, but also reflected her long-standing commitment as a music educator and cultural advocate to fostering musical exchange and nurturing young talents. Through collaboration with a leading professional ensemble, Emily and her students presented classical music in a contemporary and engaging manner to audiences in Singapore and beyond, exemplifying the power of music to transcend borders and connect hearts.

Looking ahead, Emily Wang will continue to advance high-level music education and performance initiatives through SoMe Music School, providing more young musicians with opportunities to perform on professional stages and enabling a wider audience to experience the beauty and transformative power of music.
