On September 16, 2025, SoMe Music School was invited by the Stanford Parents’ Academy in Singapore to share the significance of art and music in daily life. The session encouraged parents to reconnect with art and music and to experience their place and value in everyday living.

This sharing session did not require any musical background or professional knowledge. It focused on real-life experiences, emphasizing emotions, rhythm, and inner feelings. The discussion explored how art can offer moments of calm and relaxation amid a busy daily routine. Even without knowledge of music theory, one can still experience the comfort, companionship, and beauty that music brings.

Art is not a luxury—it is the gentlest form of nourishment for life. It can appear in the melodies of the morning or in the quiet moments of listening alone. Art does not need to be deliberately planned; it acts as a gentle companion, helping us slow down and reconnect with our emotions.

The session also touched on classical music appreciation and cultivating a sense of aesthetic taste in daily life. Developing the ability to appreciate music is not about acquiring advanced knowledge — it is about listening, feeling, and observing, learning to discover beauty in everyday experiences.

When music naturally integrates into life, it quietly becomes an outlet for emotions and a source of inner nourishment. Its presence is subtle yet enduring, gentle yet warming.

Families can enhance the layers of daily life by choosing music for different occasions: family dinners, holiday gatherings, leisurely afternoon tea, wine evenings, birthdays, or home parties. Music, like lighting and fragrance, can become part of the “soft décor” at home, subtly transforming the atmosphere.

In Singapore, a wealth of artistic resources allows parents and children to engage with art in many ways—from community projects and adult music courses at the Esplanade, to weekend outdoor concerts at the Botanic Gardens and professional orchestra performances. Each experience allows art to naturally become part of daily life, offering gentle companionship and enrichment.

SoMe Music School believes that the true meaning of art lies in accompanying people through life. Through carefully curated activities and performances, we aim to bring art into daily life, making it a quiet yet lasting light.

Upcoming music events organized by SoMe Music School, including the Shanji Mid-Autumn Charity Concert and DREAM STAGE 2025, will feature youth music education initiatives and performances. These events not only showcase the professional skills and creativity of young musicians but also connect music with community and charity, making art a bridge for warmth, inspiration, and connection.

We look forward to families and children discovering the joy of music in these events, allowing art to gently illuminate the heart and accompany growth in daily life.
