Emily Wang, founder of SoMe Music School, was honored to be invited as a juror for the Edinburgh International Music Competition, alongside Tianjin Conservatory of Music professor, pianist Chao Yang, and Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music pianist Liu Jia. This recognition not only highlights Emily Wang’s years of experience and professional achievements in music education but also represents a valuable opportunity for international adjudication and academic exchange.
The competition brought together young musical talents from around the world, each showcasing their unique musical understanding and technical skill. As a juror, Emily Wang evaluated participants with a rigorous professional perspective, considering technical proficiency, musical expressiveness, and overall stage presentation. She approaches her role with the eye of an educator, emphasizing individualized artistic development and potential, ensuring that every piece of feedback is both professional and constructive, helping participants grow through their stage experiences.
On the international stage, Emily Wang deeply experienced the close connection between music education and artistic practice: it is not only a test of technique but also an exchange of emotion and understanding. Through her adjudication work, she hopes to inspire young musicians, while bringing this experience back to SoMe Music School to guide and motivate students in their continuous development.
At the same time, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Zhao Qizhi, a student of SoMe Music School, for an outstanding performance at this year’s Edinburgh International Music Competition. Demonstrating stable, well-grounded technique and a mature sense of musical expression, Zhao Qizhi was awarded the Gold Award. During the adjudication process, four international jurors from diverse countries and academic backgrounds awarded high scores of 93, 93, 90, and 89, fully affirming Zhao’s professional standard and stage presence.
This competition brought together many outstanding young musicians from China and other regions, including a significant number of students from conservatories and affiliated pre-college programs. Zhao Qizhi’s ability to stand out on such a high-level international stage reflects not only sustained personal dedication and disciplined practice, but also the value of systematic musical training and consistent performance experience.
SoMe Music School remains committed to supporting students throughout their artistic journey — through professional guidance, exposure to international platforms, and well-rounded artistic development — empowering them to move forward with confidence, passion, and a lasting love for music.
